What is this?
Suffolk has a strong network of music industry professionals and services working on local events up to international tours. This directory will show you what is on your doorstep and that you don’t need to go to London or another big city to find what you need.
This directory is not exclusively Suffolk and will go across the county borders a little bit. Everything you need (people, resources and kit) to work in this industry can be found right here in Suffolk. If we all know what’s in the county we can work together to share work, and skills and make it more viable to work in this industry and be in Suffolk.
What’s the cost of the site and how does the maths work?
This project is privately funded by Neon Street Ltd for the benefit of the music industry in Suffolk and is free to use. There are no Arts Council grants / local authority grants or adverts behind it. Its ongoing costs will be funded by Neon Street. The reason? Because we care and want to help out.
There are no adverts, no marketing, no paid promotions, no signup needed to look at things.. just a quality source of information to help you.
There is no cost to add yourself to the directory either.
We will add some Google analytics on here just to see how useful it is to people and where they come from… but that’s about it.
Who can add themselves to the directory?
Add yourself or your business when the time is right. Ideally you are working in the music/entertainment industry and you are based in Suffolk or around this area. For example you have a studio, or you offer mastering, you are a luthier, a teacher, you provide live sound, tour services, etc etc…
There is no cost to add yourself to the directory but we will check submissions to make sure they are correct and relevant. This is to make sure the information is of a certain quality so it is trusted. It may be we don’t add you because you are a bit far away, or you are currently not active or you are not working in music.
What about musicians….
So this is an interesting one.. We thought about this as musicians are the blood of the industry but at the same time there are lots of groups and forums in the area offering the support for musicians to deputise / form new groups etc.. so for the moment we are going to hold off adding musicians / bands / sessions musicians and focus on all the services and tools around the musician. So don’t take it personally as this is a new thing and we’re evolving it.
Can I place adverts on here or link into a partnership?
We just want to create an excellent directory which helps the industry in Suffolk so no adverts thanks.
How can I help?
Tell people about this site, use it yourself, make sure people add what they do as then the directory keeps a standard high which means people will use it.
Check for errors too please and flag them with us.
Please use this to grow your career and develop your skills.
